Aki Kusama

Aki Kusama was born in Goto City, Kyushu, Japan. Her father, a missionary, often preached the gospel on Fukue Island in Goto. From a young age, Kusama accompanied her father, traveling between these beautiful islands and experiencing the nurturing influence of nature.

Kusama had a passion for painting. She loved observing flowers and birds, capturing their beauty on paper. She was deeply interested in traditional Japanese kachō-ga (bird-and-flower painting), but at the same time, she was also influenced by Western painting. In particular, she was captivated by the Impressionist style.

Kusama 's paintings blend traditional Japanese kachō-ga and Impressionism. She uses soft brushstrokes to depict scenes of blossoming flowers, evoking the feeling of the four seasons. On her canvases, flower petals fall like pink snowflakes, captivating the viewer.

Kusama 's artwork gives a feeling of warmth and tranquility, as if one were immersed in a season of blooming flowers. Her unique style leaves a lasting impression.
